Personal Best specializes in setting up corporate fitness and wellness programs and facilities. Personal Best has been in business since 1995 and their experience in wellness and fitness programs dates back over 20 years. The Personal Best team takes great pride in delivering the highest quality of service and professionalism in their programming.

PERSONAL BEST Affiliations
Alliances with professional organizations keep Personal Best on the leading edge in terms of professionalism, new equipment and the latest research in this fast-changing field. Personal Best is affiliated with the:

  • International Health, Racquet and Sports Club Association (IHRSA)
    IHRSA provides members with a wealth of resources. They provide a code of conduct for best fitness practices and safety, monthly magazines, annual conferences and new ideas for fitness and health promotion.
  • Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (CSEP)
    All corporate facilities under the guidance of Personal Best can apply to become an accredited fitness appraisal centre. This accreditation demonstrates to members that the fitness professionals are highly certified in delivering fitness and lifestyle programs. This accreditation also reduces the risk of liability.

 

MEET THE TEAM

Julia Aimers (BA Rec Admin, Certified Exercise Physiologist)

 

Julia Aimers started Personal Best Fitness & Lifestyle Consulting in 1995. As a Gold medalist in the 1979 Pan-American Games in badminton, Julia has always understood the importance of striving to achieve your personal best. Since 1995 her company has provided corporate contracts, fitness contracts, triathlon coaching and personal training. She and her team have developed facilities and/or provided programs to OmniMark Technologies, Tri-Graphic Printing, Gallium Software, Health Canada and the Royal Canadian Mint. She provides fitness contracts to the Ottawa Athletic Club and the Ottawa 67's Sports Performance Centre. Presently Julia coaches Team Triumph, a Triathlon Club she developed for multi sport athletes.

Julia earned a BA in Recreation Administration from Concordia University and is a Certified Exercise Phy siologist, certified by the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology. Since 1980 she has gained experience as a fitness and lifestyle coordinator/director at reputable health clubs in Montreal and Ottawa. Julia was the Fitness Director at the Ottawa Athletic Club for nine years. At the OAC Julia was responsible for managing over 70 fitness staff, four coordinators, a fully equipped strength and conditioning centre, two swimming pools, all health and fitness classes, sports camps and corporate fitness and lifestyle programs.

In April of 2004, Julia was nominated for the National Capital Region YM/YWCA Women of Distinction Award for her work in encouraging citizens in the National Capital Region to adopt a healthier lifestyle.

After Julia's friend and mentor Mike Collingwood passed away in December 2006, in memory of Mike, Julia became the volunteer race director for Mike Collingwood's Meech Lake Triathlon.

 

   

 Susan Martin-Bush (Bsc Kin, Certified Exercise Physiologist)

 

Susan Martin-Bush has had over 20 years experience in the health and fitness field. Her enthusiastic and energetic approach has helped to motivate many individuals, in both the public and private sector, reach their fitness and lifestyle goals.

Susan earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Kineisiology from Ottawa University and is a Certified Exercise Physiologist, certified with the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiologists. She developed her entertaining and informative public speaking style by becoming a Christopher Leadership course instructor.

Susan began her career developing recreation policies for the Correctional Service of Canada. In the private sector, Susan worked as the Fitness Director for the Ottawa Athletic Club. In this position she was responsible for developing and implementing programs such as the lifestyle/weight management program, the OAC Corporate Relay and the OAC Triathlon.

Presently Susan works as a consultant in Corporate Wellness and has worked on contracts with OmniMark Technologies, Gallium Software and the Royal Canadian Mint.
